Timber Treatment

Timber is one of the best natural resources that we have many special uses. It is used as a basic structure material to build our houses, is used to make furniture both in the house and garden, is turned into very beautiful artwork as well as having a extensive range of other various uses.

We have a broad range of high quality products to help protect timber both in the house and garden from these problems.

Wood Preservatives :

  1. Ready or concentrated to use liquids: A fungicide and insecticide for the surface spray treatment of impure timber or as a pre-treatment for new timber. Can also be used for injection straight into the timber.
  2. Paste and gels: Ready to use products, for use either as an outside treatment or for injection into the timber. Used in “high risk” places or areas where a high penetration is necessary. For example joist ends etc.

For surface wood boring beetle and fungi treatment we would counsel the use of brush or spray applied liquids, for deeper treatment or for treating parts of “high risk” we recommend the use of Gels or Pastes as these wood boring fungi and beetle treatments are deep penetrating and offer a higher level of protection.

Wood Borer Treatment

They are commonly known as powdery post beetle. The adults are reddish brown to dark brown in colour. Their females lay their eggs in the cut surface of the wood, the larvae after hatching feeds on starch. They grow making their way through the wood swallowing a portion of it and filling the burrows with frass, which is a cream colour powder, a telltale sign of the presence of this beetle. When mature, the larvae directs their borrows towards the exterior and puppate just below the surface.

The adult bites an exit hole and emerges from the wood. Three services are carried out an interval of 15 days each. This treatment will give 90% results and if at all any extra service need to be carried out, it will be charged extra. This treatment is carried out as under :-

PREVENTIVE MEASURES :-

  1. Using a doctor's syringe, concentrated chemical is injected directly into the tiny holes from where the powder is falling.
  2. Blanket spraying is carried out on all the wooden surfaces.
  3. Wherever possible for e.g in closed cupboards, syno gasing treatment is carried out so as to flush out the beetles from inside their tunnel.
